Common Questions About Acupuncture

FAQs
Am I a candidate for Acupuncture?
The medical literature shows acupuncture’s effect on nearly every biophysical system in the body. I’ve seen patients suffering from a wide variety of problems respond to acupuncture treatment when nothing else has worked.

So, for most people, yes, acupuncture is something you should explore.

How many Acupuncture treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed differs from person to person. For complex or long-standing conditions, one or two treatments a week for several months may be recommended. For acute problems, usually fewer visits are required, and for health maintenance, we recommend monthly tune ups.
Does Acupuncture hurt?
No. It’s very comfortable. Most people end up taking a nap during their treatment and leave feeling refreshed and relaxed.
Is Acupuncture covered by insurance?
Yes!  We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Optum. Individual plans vary, so it is best to discuss your insurance coverage before your appointment.

*Even if your insurance plan does list coverage for acupuncture, this is not a guarantee of payment. If for some reason your insurance decides to decline coverage, you will be liable for the full amount per treatment.

Why Affinity Acupuncture?
It’s important to develop a good relationship with your acupuncturist. We pride ourselves in the personalized care we provide. William blends knowledge from Eastern and Western medicine, using elements from both to give you the best treatment possible. Also, Affinity Acupuncture offers more than acupuncture treatments. Some practitioners charge extra for cupping, Tui-Na, E-Stem, Gua-Sha, TDP Infrared Heat Therapy, and Nutritional Counseling, which we include in the cost of private acupuncture sessions.
But First, An Evaluation

While Acupuncture is one of our offerings, in our clinic Dr. Alexander will meet with you and evaluate your specific needs to determine if you are a candidate for our services. Then, if you are a good candidate for our clinic, he will formulate a treatment plan tailored specifically to you. The majority of the time, his treatment plans draw from all of our services to give you the best comprehensive care and get you the results you desire in the most expeditious method.
